WSOP First Year Playing Poker |
New to Poker and Already Playing in the WSOP
I just wanted to write something real quick about how AJPoker.com has helped me. Some of you may remember when I was new to AJPoker.com, my first few times in chat I didn't even know what the most common terms in poker were. I was asking questions like "what does tilt mean?" and "what is under the gun?" See, when I first found AJPoker.com I had just found poker a week before.
I grew up riding and racing motocross but on July 17th, 2005 I had the misfortune of breaking my neck and back in a motocross accident. Since I was barely able to move around, of course I couldn't go to work, so I needed something to pass the time being stuck at home. I was watching some poker on tv one day and saw a commercial for a poker site and decided to give it a try. I found AJPoker.com a week later because I saw a private tourney scheduled at a poker site. I thought it sounded cool to play poker with the same group of people all the time, and thought maybe I could learn something from these guys. Boy was I right!!
When I first went to AJPoker.com I didn't go into chat or the forum for the first week, I just went there every day to use the freeroll tracker to see what freerolls were coming up and get the sites from the links there. The first time I went into chat I started learning almost instantly. I just watched some people talk about hands they had played and would ask questions if I didn't understand what they were talking about. This was really a big help for someone as new as me, not only did it answer my questions, but just from listening to the things they talked about it let me know of aspects of the game that of course I had never even thought of.
After that first time I went to the chat room the way I looked at poker had changed. I could see improvement in my game almost instantly and it wasn't more than a week or two before I won my first tourney for $400. I followed that tourney 1 week later with winning my second tourney for $500. I have gone on to win 6 more tourneys and a seat to this years WSOP event #17 where Luke and I will both try to tackle the best in the world and get a bracelet. I know that if it wasn't for AJPoker.com and all of the help from the good friends I've made there, I would not have the knowledge of the game that I have, nor would I have had the success that I have had.
Thanks to all the friends I have made at AJPoker.com that have helped me, and hopefully will continue to help me, become a better poker player.
